Well, folks, trivia aficionados, here it is. Week one, and one win for Team Travis. We went out there on Wednesday and proved that our complete destruction of anyone else trivia related was no fluke. We're back, and we're back on top. With that in mind, let us go through some of the highlights of the week that was.
Pitchers of beer purchased - One. This ended up being one too many.
Pitchers of beer donated by Great Western - One. The GW rep looked wasted, too.
Pitchers of beer won through rounds of trivia dominance - Two.
Pitchers of beer won from overall victory for the evening - One.
Glasses of beer poured for the table by GW rep - Five.
That's a lot of beer, kids. We had to give some of it away, but it's still a bunch. Wow. I know I had too much....way too much. Thorry, Kari.
Number of rounds won by team violence against women - One.
Number of times "Frank" tried to change their name: Once. Then they surrendered, and went right back to Frank place.
Answer of the night - Probably goes to Craig for the "Hercules" answer for Howard Hughes' plane. Good work.
Bonehead move of the night - Putting whatever we put instead of Mortal Kombat. Steve knew it, and we should have listened.
It seems so obvious now.
Math answer of the night - Cindy and Steve knew all about telephone poles and their distances away from one another. I didn't even bother answering that one. You don't need my input.
Team name of the night - Probably "Travis wants to know if you've ever been crotch chopped by a pregnant woman." That got us some laughs, the visual of Kari crotch chopping the bar, and a whole bunch of "who brings a pregnant woman to the bar" team names back at us.
Looking ahead - We're in first place, but let's not get cocky. We're going to be losing some members soon, so let's hang onto our spot with quiet dignity.
Booya.
Jimmy.

Other highlights:
-The excellent addition of Andrea to our core, toque-wearing membership. Way to step up, especially for the music rounds. Hopefully next week you can have more than gastric bypass food.
-Valuable lesson learned: always trust Steve's instincts. Exhibit a: Hawaii; exhibit b: Mortal Kombat. I know there was another one, too. You will be missed.
-Kudos to the 'geers for managing to make the questions more interesting, the music round less repetitive, and the whole evening last less than five hours.
Now I need to go nurse my strained crotch choppin' muscles. Good showing, team.
Oh, and never let James drink that much again, even when I'm not there. Please. Thank you.
Excellent recap and comments. I would also like to add big props to Kari for coming straight from pregnancy class to trivia, and of course for risking serious injury to crotch chop our opponents on opening night.
Mad props to Andrea for showing up in official Team Travis uniform, and for bailing us out major on all of the music rounds and a few of the question rounds. A welcomed addition indeed.
A fond, if sad, farewell to the Steve-Know for this semester. Your knowledge of math and bad martial arts movies will be sorely missed...but what will be missed much, much more is the weight you pull in the victory beer drinking department. Man alive, Trivia James and Captain Craig are going to be in serious trouble next week.
Speaking of serious trouble, wow were we drunk by the time trivia ended. I am with Kari, we have to curb our enthusiasm for victory beer. It is so, so delicious, but if we keep winning I recommend just taking a symbolic sip of the booze...James can show us how to do that. I was hurtin with a capital H , U and R on Thursday morning.
Way to go Trivia Cindy for both inviting our new member, arranging my ride to trivia and haning in there to the end even though she had a big day on thursday. Looking forward to seeing more of TC all semester than I did this summer!
What a sweet recap. The organizers did do an awesome job. If only they could start on time...
Sorry for bailing last night. I tried to be proactive and take a nap before trivia. Unfortunately, my body said "i need more sleep"
I agree Trivia Andrea is a great addition! And I will miss Trivia Steve and our debates after Trivia Beer.
I definitely missed the heckling, crotch chopping and wide knowledge base of y'all last night. Can't wait for the next recap
