Recap - Season 2 Week 3

I was tempted to call this week two, after our disastrous performance last week, but be that as it may, we were back on top this week. Oh yeah!

Core attendance - Craig, Cindy, Kari, Travis, Jimmy, Andrea.
Variable Attendance - Janelle.
Rounds won - I think it was two, wasn't it? Two, but with a high place overall on the rest.
Pitchers won - Three. An extra one for overall.
Pitchers given away - Uh, at least one pitcher of foam. I don't know about the rest.

We started off super-strong, with a dynamite opening round. Seriously, we made up a ton of ground with that opener. Between the "Military patrol," the yearbook picture of Bill Murray, and the authors of the communist manifesto, it wasn't even close. That round (plus other knowledge-based rounds) brought us back up to being on top again. We made up the shortfall, and then some. Travis and Andrea really pulled it together for the music rounds, and we made a decent showing in those too. Just got to remember the Kenny Loggins. That guy recorded every movie theme ever in the eighties. He also had a sweet beard.

Also, after an elaborate plan to sort of play "buffalo" but not really, Craig got caught with a whole bunch of beer to drink....nice foolproof plan, Craiggers.

Props to the engineers, though, for giving us a themed music round. This week, it was nintendo themes, which we somehow knew quite a few of. I also like how much trash talking we're getting from the other teams.

I however dislike the lack of bodog fight. Where are my guys hitting each other and girls in bikinis?

For the night, the top teams are as follows:

6th place - Frank.
5th place - Push her down the stairs.
4th place - Plastered Bastards with 43.5 points.
3rd place - 1864 (Connor's team) with 47 pts.
2nd place - Travis with 52.5 pts.
1st place - Broad Street Brawlers with 55.5 pts.

That's for the night. Now, let's do overall, shall we?

6th place - Frank with 121 points.
5th place - Plastered Bastards with 123.5 pts.
4the place - Bi Polar Bears with 131.5 pts.
3rd place - Push her down the stairs with 132 pts.
2nd place - Broad Street Brawlers with 133 pts.
1st place, and still champions of the trivia universe - Travis with 139 pts.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone else bothers to show up. Oh, right. To see Kari balancing a pitcher of beer on her 9 months pregnant tummy.

WOO!

That was a smashing week. Extra props to Janelle for coming to trivia two weeks in a row after working not just one, but two thankless jobs. I also appreciate the fact that the geers are getting things moving along at a decent clip so that our valuable members who live in the real world and have to get up for actual jobs on Thursday mornings (ie., all of us except my lazy ass and Craig the party dude) can get in four or even five rounds, or even stick it out until the end and still get in a half-decent sleep.
I am a bit concerned that there was no mention made of the de-licensed political trivia scheduled for next week... could it possibly be that my Carillon sources were wrong? Heaven forfend. Well, as I say, if I've still got a parasite next week, I will so be there. Or if I manage to drop the thing out in the next day or two, Trivia James has sweetly offered to be on baby duty. I mean, who brings a pregnant lady to a bar, anyway? Sheesh.

oh dear - calling a baby a parasite. You just went from witty to - dare I use the only english word with all the vowels in order - facetious.

Good showing team travis.

Just so y'all know - i've been training steve-know so he will be back in trivia shape come january. I don't want him getting soft in the off season. He successfully got the question about people shaking hands - this is a good sign.

Also, i must comment on Andrea's touque. How the girl got inspired to make orange hunting gear fashionable - i'll never know - but I am impressed. So impressed.

Facile win last week gang, let's keep it going.

Big props to Andrea for going all out with the touque, maybe the button and sticker trend will catch on and Team Travis will take on the facade of a bingo team. I'm down with that.

Also big shouts to Janelle for showing up to play after a long day...and for picking up an orange touque, which she then left home. Just let me say for the record that there is no shame in leaving your uniform at home, even if it is on championship night and you have to make a facsimile of your touque from an URSU poster.

This is how I knew that the song from 8-bit music trivia was from Mega Man.
